Kelsey Brookes is a visual artist based in San Diego, California. Typically using enamel and acrylic on canvas, Brookes creates oversized paintings that are truly explosive. Utilizing a palette of neon-like colors combined with notions of movement and motion, Brookes’ paintings feel as though they’re being hurled at you. It’s interesting to note that Brookes has said he’s influenced by microbiology, surf culture and folk art- all of which are evident in the work. Beyond all of the aforementioned, the work just has this fun, bright and breezy ‘west coastness’ that we can get behind.
