Victoria Sambunaris has spent the last decade crisscrossing America to document the land’s geography and industry. Using a large format camera, Sambunaris has created stunning images that depict marvelous, almost untouched natural landscapes as well landscapes where the imprint of humankind is visible via farming, roads, quarries and borders. While other photographers would position the latter as a negative commentary on industrialization’s effect on nature, Sambunaris has instead taken a higher road where the focus is more on grandeur as evidenced by the minuscule inclusion of vehicles and people that are represented in some of the key images. Victoria Sambunaris is on Tumblr so follow her.
