Zak Fellman is an American painter from Winona, Minnesota. He creates small oil paintings of regular scenes and landmarks from his small, Midwestern town. Combining the drab color scheme and flat painting technique of Jack Vettriano with the loose realism of Edward Hopper’s cityscapes, Fellman creates really intriguing works that delicately capture the simple, quietness of his town. However, there also appears to be this underlying sense of tedium and isolation in his paintings. Zak Fellman is currently at work on his self-initiated Paint My Small Town project, and he’s also on Tumblr so follow him.
