Tourist Book Report #33- Black Ski Mask Issue #1 is a publication that features both the photographs and written musings of Max Mallender. Designed by Jason Hollis, the 40 page full color zine measures 5.75” x 8.25” and is limited to 500 hand numbered copies. Described as being the “Visual ramblings of a university drop-out”, the Issue is chock full of photographs that depict late night escapades, tagging, drugs and hijinks. However, it’s not limited to just images of mindless, nihilistic mischief as many of the landscape images convey a genuine longing for ‘purpose’ that exists in contrast to the almost wandering loneliness that simultaneously exists. As such, it’s a visual portal into the psyche of a young adult that’s unsure of their place in the world. Black Ski Mask Issue #1 was sent to us as a submission for review- so follow their cue as we love to review the work of our followers!
