Over the last few months, the Tourist team has been at work on new project that we’ve been pretty tight lipped about. However, we’re finally able to announce the launch of Hot Charity, a creative management company and record label that was founded by our very own Jamie-James Medina and rounded out by our publisher Ben Pobjoy (who is the label’s General Manager) and our Art Director Shawn Butchart (who is the label’s Art Director). An imprint that is distributed by XL Recordings, Hot Charity will first release music by Chicago’s Willis Earl Beal this spring (before releasing music by other artists). We’re happy to report that Hot Charity, its partnership with XL and the release of Beal’s new EP was made official within the past 48 hours and has already been profiled in NME, on Pitchfork, on Fader and on many other music sites. We’re really excited to build the label, its roster and release albums that have both unique and innovative packaging. The aforementioned has contributed to the delay of the second issue of the Tourist but do not fear- the Tourist will always remain a priority and we’re very close to releasing the second issue. If you like what the Tourist has done for art, photography and zines then we hope you’ll follow our new venture and see what we’re trying to do with music, artists and album packaging!
